solitary confinement

Well first off i should say that i would only register inmates who were in dire need of solitary confinement into that facility. But for the intrest of the law i would do as washington would and set a limit to how long an inmate could stay in solitary confinement, i wouldnt make it 20 days though it would be more like a few months. To answer the second question i would tell the guards their limits and let them have a set of rules. These rules would contain the idea of letting the prisoner stay in the yard longer for good behavior, and even earn privilages like better food.

These would only be decided by the warden ...i would let the prisoners appeal to the warden to let them out of solitary sooner but there would be no court decision in the matter, this is becaus ewith more people deciding then there might be alot a bias on the matter. Going back to the matter of rues, i would not let inmates interact with other inmates, this is because they will only create trouble. I would also gear solitary confinement tword rehabilitation. This idea would reduce the chance of prisoners in solitary confinement from becoming mentally unstable.

These ideas would only work if preformed everyday, this would insure the percent of success in this program. The prisoners going into solitary confinement would start off with no rights , like yard time and extra meals per day. This would make them work for their rights, such as good behavior and mental stability, then i would have the guards or warden give them more rights lie good meals and more yard time. These are the ideas i would implement in prison systems around the U.S. to improve solitary confinement.

TEAM 3 FTW! - (gangs)

I believe that as long as thwere is a need for a sense of brotherhood there will always be gangs but i think that if our police force finds better ways to capture gangs then it will end, but until then the gang activity is growing and will never stop.

I think that our community's idea of using a curfew to reduce the gang activity in the rochester area has not and will not work, specificly because the curfew is for only kids a certain age. This is not going to work because most gang members are above this age.

:D :P

The death penalty is a good deterrent for crime but i think that the death penalty should be harsher. Let me explain; the U.S. been changing methods of death penalty to make sure that the prisoner who is expiriencing the death penalty is not going to feel it or it isnt going to last long. It may sound brutal but i think that if we make the death penalty more terrifying then criminals wouldnt want to commit so many crimes. Is this so bad?

I also think that a largest weaknss in the death penalty is the cost that it takes out of the tax payers money. I did some research and the everage cost to have someone on death row each is 36,000$, and the average annual cost of capital punishment is 63.3 million dollars. This shows how much we spend to have someone killed, its costs too much.

I think that that is a load of s**t. We should not be spending more on a person to die in jail than we spend on a perosn to live outside. If anything we should have a limit to how long a person can stay in death row and not like a 25 year limit, like a 5 year limit so that they dont get alot of money spent on their capital punishment.

I was suprised to find that some states in the U.S. still use firing squad as a means of capital punichment. What also suprised me was the fact that new york state was the first state to use the chair and now we dont have a form of capital punishment now in NY state at all.

crazy people are stupid

I think that just because she pleas insanity, she shouldnt just go to a mental hospital. She should just get the death penalty, she killed her 5 kids and... thats not good. i agree with the fact that i would never want to see her on the street. I also think that her family would do somthing about this whole situation, like give her an intervention. Personally i think that we should just ship her to vietnam and leave her in that jungle somewhere, and not south vietnam, North vietnam, so she is on the communist side. We dont need that kind of insanity here. Also she has been planning this event for a long time, thats premeditation. If she all of a sudden had a break and killed her kids, but was already insane, than she should have just went to a hospital. So my chioces of what to do with her are either vietnam or death.

First question - ZING!

One idea of a fast solution would be to get the crime labs better equipment, this would allow them to be able to catch more criminals and therefore, people woud know that our catching rate is higher and would stop commiting so many crimes. Aonther idea of a quick fix would be reducing the care in prison, this is explained by the idea that most prisons in the us are in better conditions than the places these criminals are living in before they go to jail. The us is basically taking people off the streets and treating them better, and they commited a crime. Jail should be a place that criminals dont want to go to, not a safe escape from a terrible life.
